Therapeutic Thai Massage Workshop

Learn real therapeutic massage with Mike Tan
I have seen many students of Traditional Thai Massage (TTM) come and go through Chiang Mai, Thailand, taking many courses without ever learning how to do "Real Therapeutic Massage." Many practitioners learn only the basics of Thai Massage position and sequences in a 'follow-the-sequence' style of teaching due to over-standardized Thai Massage courses, English language limitations and limited course durations offered at nearly all the Thai Massage schools for Farangs (Thai for 'Foreigner') in Thailand.
To address the needs of the intermediate/advanced TTM student who wants to start approaching Therapeutic Massage, this is an on-going Therapy Workshop that operates in loose structure mode without providing any sequence-oriented instructional material. We use our own bodies as the basis for study by learning how to diagnose and correct each others' Energetic and Structural problems. This is an individualized teaching/training approach that will be different for each practitioner depending on their skills and experience.
This workshop can help you improve in six different aspects:
- Body position and strengthening for injury prevention
- Proper TTM technique understanding
- Essential Anatomy for Thai Massage Therapy
- SEN energy accuracy and manipulation techniques
- Techniques for releasing deep muscles and tendons
- Diagnosis of physical and SEN energy problems
This workshop utilizes minimal stretching techniques. Those interested in yoga-like, stretching or relaxation based Thai Massage should consider other instruction. Thai Massage Therapy practitioners would first perform structural diagnosis before beginning any massage. We then work from the feet up the body to correct energy flow issues, structural alignment issues including release or manipulation of specific deep muscles, tendons, bones or joint articulations. At times, we do utilize stretching depending if the muscles and tendons are ready to be stretched and probably utilize only about 15% of the typical TTM stretching.
Thai Massage Therapy is not easy to perform, but I am committed in working with every committed student in a personalized approach that will help her or him to become a better therapeutic practitioner. A student may have energetic, fascial or deep muscles blockages that need correction or possibly thumb/knee/lower back strength training, depending on the person. We will be able to address all these challenges as part of the learning and training process, if this is really your priority.
This is my commitment to those who wish to heal and transform others and understand how to heal and transform themselves as a necessary part of the process.

About Mike Tan
Acknowledgemrnt form NAMO Chiang Mai
Mike Tan is one of the most dedicated thai massage practitioner I have ever seen. He has huge understanding about body mechanism and when I ask some small question, he always gives very very specific explanation with shining eyes. I just feel a lot of affection for his bodywork from it.
Although he studied under several Therapeutic Thai Massage teachers for a long time and has a lengthy experience as a massage therapist,
he is always humble and never stop learning. He dosen't like to call himself "teacher" but he enjoys sharing his knowledge with people who are devoted to exploring massage therapy. I am very happy that we can create something together. Thanks Mike!
